I seriously never wanted to leave this place! After a hard time at work, the traveling and diving this was just the perfect place to relax and feel like in heaven. If I close my eyes I can still see the blue water, the mountains and feel the sun and a light breeze on my skin. Please somebody hand me a coconut and take me back to the Lato Lato Resort.
After one night in Semporna Scuba Junkie arranged our boat trip to Mabul. The island of Mabul is a 45-60 min speed boat ride away from Semporna and it is the base camp of the dive shops that specialize in Sipadan. Mabul is known for its muck diving and there are indeed plenty of colourful nudibranches and elegant pipefishes in the water.
For most people, a stay in Semporna is just a stepping stone on the way to the marvelous islands in the Semporna Archipelago. So our recommendation is stay as short as possible and find a place on one of the amazing islands around.
